Egypt Incentive
Pyramids & tombs
Arriving in Egypt, our first stop is to its capital city Cairo and there you will see the Pyramids at Gizeh and The Great Sphinx.
Our guide will disclose the secret complexities of the dynastic periods as we travel to Memphis and its splendid necropolis, Sakkara. In addition to seeing the first step pyramid we’ll also visit The Egyptian museum at Tahrir square as well as old kingdom tombs.
From Memphis to Luxor, we visit ancient Thebes. At Thebes, we see the various temples, in particular the Karnak Temple, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Royal Tombs in the Valley of the Kings. We take a relaxing cruise to Edfu Temple and the temple at Kom-Ombo located on a bend in the Nile river about 50 km north of Aswan. Kom Ombo is home to an atypical binary temple constructed throughout the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
In spite of damage, the temple is an enchanting sight predominantly as sunset nears and the colours alter. At Aswan we stop to see the charming Temple of Isis at Philae and Abu Simbel.
Back in Cairo we head into the medieval city, surveying the captivating Gayer-Anderson Museum and the nearby Mosque of Ibn Tulun. The Mosque of Ahmad Ibn Ţūlūn is the oldest mosque in the city surviving in its original form, and is the largest mosque in Cairo. Our final Egyptian highlight is a visit to the renowned Khan al-Khalili Bazaar.
